John C. Rogers, President and Founder of CNP, brings to clients more than 25 years of experience in politics, public policy, business and government affairs. He has worked at the federal and state levels of government, in the Executive and Legislative branches, as an advocate and a media and political strategist for individuals, corporations, municipalities, state governments, non-profit organizations and leading political figures.
John is the driving force behind Capstone National Partners. He leads a team of accomplished and skilled bi-partisan professionals who are implement advocacy, government and public affairs campaigns for a national client base.
In addition to managing the firm, John continues to maintain an active role as a strategist, advising premier national and regional research organizations and pro-research, pro-cure patient advocacy groups on how to shape public policy to best advance science in this country. He also offers clients his specialized expertise in pursuing congressionally directed spending, specifically targeting Department of Defense opportunities.
John serves as a consultant to high-tech and biotech companies, research organizations, patient groups and individuals. He is the political advisor and spokesman for Michael J Fox and is credited with working with Mr. Fox to create the 2006 Mid-term election nationwide stem cell political movement that is acknowledged to have impacted political races across the country.
Mr. Rogers is a national leader in advancing medical research and in the stem cell political and strategic arena. He served as the Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors of the Parkinson’s Action Network (PAN), the national advocacy organization for Parkinson’s disease. He is a founding executive board member of the Coalition for the Advancement of Medical Research (CAMR) and the President of the Board of the Wisconsin Procurement Institute, a non-profit organization that assists Wisconsin companies in their efforts to capture federal contracts. John is a board member of the Southeastern Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission (SEWRPC) and the Milwaukee Film Festival.
Prior to forming CNP, John was the president of Whyte Hirschboeck Dudek Government Affairs and a co-founder of Pace-Capstone, a Washington, DC based government affairs and strategic development firm.
Before moving into the private sector, John was appointed by President Clinton to the posts of Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Legislative Affairs and Deputy Assistant Secretary of Plans and Operations at the Department of Defense. As part of the Secretary of Defense’s inner circle he assisted in the creation of strategies and tactics on significant defense policies. He also served as a key facilitator between the Department, the White House and Congress on issues such as military base closures, military base re-use efforts, technology reinvestment programs and privatization issues. Earlier, John served as senior staff to Congressman Les Aspin where he held the position of Ombudsman (District Director) and Political Director and as Director of the Wisconsin Senate Democratic Caucus.
John is a sought after speaker and author providing political insights and a unique understanding of business needs, government policies, politics and the appropriations process.
John lives in Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin with his wife and two children.
